When a person become a police officer they go through screening and testing to make sure they can do the job. Not all are men too! No, most are there because they feel we need to have some kind of way to have those who break the law taken care of. It is a very hard job and police officers do not get the respect they should. They make our city safer and a nice place to live. We would not have the live with out them. I think it can be a very stressful and thankless job at times.

No, not all police officers are the mentioned characters themselves. In fact a small percentage of them are. The only reason that it may seem to be so is that the bad ones get all of the publicity and the good ones don't get any.

Not all, but in my experience, I have found that the vast majority of police officers fall into one of the following two catagories
1. Bullies who not continues with their intimidating, assaultive behavior and use their badge are a free pass to do so
2. wimpy people (usually guys) that got picked on by life and now they want to pay the world back and use their authority do push others around

Were I a cop, I would work internal affairs and hunt bad cops mercilessly!

I would have to say that some are. Being a police officer doesn't mean that they are no longer human and therefore cannot do any bad.

I will say that is a horrible stereo-type.

No, but since society holds them to a higher standard (as we should) when those crimes are reported it's shocking so we are very aware of them. Also, tho' I am not excusing that sort of behavior, I think they must be under extraordinary stress & react out of that very ugly place.
