I can make friends easily in my old neighbor hood because I also had my friends to rely on, but now that I have moved I don't know what to do.

Sunshine! What a fun opportunity to meet new peeps. I learned a long time ago that having a "line" that works for you is a great way to meet people. If I am at church or a social function...I will just go up to a person and say, "Hi, I haven't met you I'm Lisa." That is it. That it all it takes to strike up a conversation. After that you could say something like..."I just moved here from Salt Lake City...have you lived here long?" And then maybe something like..."I'm looking for a great hairstylist...you have great hair...where do you go?" TADA...also...hanging at the gym, park, church, school, etc....great places to meet great people. Best wishes.....it always takes a while to get comfy in a new city,

Just talk to people wherever you go. Come up with a question, say, "I'm new in town, what is a good restaurant?" (or dry cleaner or bowling alley or pet store, etc.) to everyone you run into. It's a way to start a conversation. And smile at people, make eye contact. It's a good way to break the ice. Most people like to answer questions, so if you have some already thought up, you can ask and they can talk and you might find you have something in common with them.

Get a hobby. Go to a gym, hang out at a coffee shop, or do something on a regular basis and just say "hi" to people, eventually more. It will come naturally.

go to school and meet people there or go to church and meet up with a local church club. join a club? Go to the community pool? Go online and log on to the personals website where you live? Umm.... tell your old friends that you have to hang with you in your new town.
