Hey, if ur Athlon model is 3700+, i.e u hv AMD Athlon 64 3700+, then the speed is perfectly alright as the clock speed of athlonn 3700 is 2.2 ghz....the model of an athlon DOESN'T denote its speed....

athlon 3000 is 1.8 ghz
athlon 3200 is 2.0 ghz

but still they r better than higher-clock-speed intels....

and if u still want faster speeds, overclock ur processor as AMD are fairly easy to overclock, but ensure u hv a good cooling system and a power supply

You might want to check out your power supply. Is it enough power for your processor? It also might be overheating for some reason and thus causing a slowdown in speed. Compatibility with other components can also cause problems. Also spybot search and destroy (free as well) can help along with adaware.

Things like spyware on your computer feed off your machines power. Also simply having stuff installed on your computer slows it down. You seem to have a pretty bad problem. I like to use CCleaner and Ad-Aware to keep my computer free of junk. Both are downloadable free of the internet just google them. GL!

Do a defragment,--start--all programs--acessories--defrag.-see how much you can free up.
