When I was 21, single mother raising 2 children (3rd one came later) several things happened in my life to bring me to the lowest I have ever been. I waited until my children were sleeping, and I had a friend over at the house, and I went to the bathroom and took a razor blade, knowing my friend would keep the children safe, and just as I put the razor to my wrist and made the first tentative cut, we had an earthquake, my first thought was my children and I ran out of the bathroom, to their room, my oldest was still asleep, and my baby was laying in his crib, smiling. My friend came after me and asked me what in the hell had happened to my wrist, I ignored the question and asked my friend " did you feel that earthquake?" my friend gave me a strange look and said " we didn't have one".

It would have to be the day I gave birth to my preemie twin daughters. I realized that I could not control everything in my life, but that was OK. They were so tiny and needed me so much--it scared me to death! Over the next 6 weeks, going back and forth to the NICU every day, I became a different person--a mommy. It is not the same with my son (now 5 mths) as with my girls. He is healthy and has 2 beautiful big sissies to take care of him. We are truly blessed--and I'm not really a spiritual person--but that's the only way to put it in words.

When I met my Dad for the first time. I didn't know him until I was 43 years old. It was a wonderful day for me to finally meet him and know the other half of me.
My mother never wanted me to know him, so I spent a huge part of my life doing things I didn't understand why I did them. After meeting my dad, I understood reasons for being the person I am, and changed some things about myself that made me a better person. I feel I am a better person for finally meeting him.
