Would God give you a happy button, if you weren't supposed to push it?

There is an implicit assumption in your question: specifically that sexuality itself can be bad. If all about us is good or neutral, than nothing we do involving our bodies can be bad. This is more or less what the previous responses have echoed.
There is another possibility, that our sexuality can be bad. The real question is though: Why would one think this? There are two answers, one anthropological and the other historical. Anthropologically, one would say that sex and sexuality have had moral judgments placed upon them because of its potential to lead to pregnancy. While the unplanned pregnancy is far from a walk in the park today, in "primitive" cultures, especially ones that viewed women as property, this had the potential of undermining basic social structures and destabilizing the community. Therefore sex, and all things related to sex, had to be closely circumscribed (no, not circumcised).
The second, and I think more relevant is the historical basis for negative images of sexuality in western culture. This goes back to the Greeks and Plato. Plato believed that the "good" was to found in abstract forms and that the physical and material world distracted us from this. This idea infiltrated Greek culture and Greek religion. By the 1st century AD gnostic (or knowledge) religions abounded in the Mediterranean. These religions relied on the idea that the physical world and the body were horrible and degrading things and that by possessing certain mysterious wisdom or knowledge, one could be freed from this garbage pit we call life. This idea of "other worldly" living found a great resonance with many in the new Christian religion. These ideas spread through church into modern times. Thus, this very ancient tradition, and not any actual religious teachings of Christianity or any other major world religion, have perpetuated the idea of the degrading nature of the body, sexuality, and physicality in general.
All that to say, before you can answer whether masturbation is bad, you first have to answer "Is sexuality bad; Is my body bad; and why?"

I think it's OK to masturbate, but be aware that people will attach a stigma to you if they know you are doing it. This is one of the biggest hypocracies in this society, because everyone does it, but if you get caught, then you are ostrocised. Also remind yourself that you are doing it because it feels good, and not because you can't get a real girl. Don't hate yourself for doing it.
