I'd like to throw a party in the next month or so for someone special. Does anyone know of some nice banquet halls or restaurants in the Southern California area (primarily North Orange County - Anaheim, Buena Park, La Habra, etc. / South East Los Angeles County - Whittier, Cerritos, Norwalk, Bellflower, Long Beach, etc.) with accomodations of about 150 people that they would recommend? The party is a birthday/retirement celebration and will have attendees of many ages and races.

Try reserving the Cerritos Millennium Library's (that's right, a library) Skyline Room in Cerritos, CA in SE LA County. It's large and very impressive. You may also want to try the Cerritos Center for the Performing Arts which has the Patina Group as the catering company (it's not the OC Performing Arts Center, as mentioned earlier by the other user) and reserve their Sierra Room for a banquet configuration. There are also several community park halls that you can reserve that should be large enough to accommodate your party.

Cerritos is a good place because of its central location from just about anywhere in OC and LA as well as having a reputation for being a safe community. It's also one of the more racially diverse places in the nation, so having a guest list with people from various backgrounds will fit in perfectly with surrounding demographics.

There's a place in Santa Ana (don't groan, its not bad) and its a great little secret! Its called Country Garden Caterer and they're at 719 N Main... just down from the Main Place Mall. Tel 714-972-9069. There's also the Bistango's at the Bowers Museum. Very chic and very nice outside dining.

You can also try something "youthful" by having it at the Disneyland hotel! Or maybe Dave & Busters at the Block?

im not familiar with the areas you are looking but have been to a nice wedding reception at the sky room in long beach.

my concern is the timing of your planning. with an anticipated 150 guests you should have already sent invitations being a month away. also, you need to take into account it is the summer and it is the peak of wedding season.

good luck and happy birthday and happy retirement to the special guests.

by using the reality that he's in straight forward words a three hundred and sixty 5 days old, he gained't extremely comprehend what is going on round him. if you're having alot of youngsters there, then i'd do something geared for his or her a lengthy time period. Like a personality coming in, or a bouncy position. I stay in suffolk county. yet extremely, for a one 3 hundred and sixty 5 days old, i'd do exactly a house aspect....yet i comprehend this is no longer an option for you. :(

The Muckenthaler Museum/Cultural Center in Fullerton. The whole place is gorgeous. And the in house caterers aren't bad, either. Here is a link to their website:

there are a bunch of cool venues owned by Patina Group -- I think they also do event planning / catering, heard they are pretty amazing and I think they have something opening up at the OC Center for Performing Arts... they do catering for things like Golden Globes / movie premiers so their venues are hip / high-end, but their fees are a little more low key
