No. I think Hammas must be made to recognize Israel as a state, but at the same time, Israel needs to remove themselves back to the pre-1967 borders. I am not saying that the U.S. needs to get involved militarily, but rather as an arbitrator. Whomever kidnapped that 19 yr. Israeli soldier needs to be taken to trial, Hammas needs to denounce violence and recognize Israel, and Israel needs to retreat back to the original borders set by the U.N. in 1948.

There is no Palestine any longer. Palestine was the British Protectorate that was given to the Zionists back in 1948 by the UN at the prompting of Great Britain and the US. Israel already occupies the entire region. All they can do is what they are already doing which is try to police the area where the Palestinians live and try to prevent further violence. The equivalent is the United States position in Iraq. We have militarily defeated the Iraqi military but are now dealing with sproradic resistance from armed individuals that for whatever reason will continue to resist. Invasion in both cases has already occured. It is policing the occupation that is the problem.

Right now, Palestine is not a soverein country, it is within the nation-state of Israel, and as witnessed today with the bombing of bridges to the West Bank by the Israeli army in response to Hamas kidnapping an army officer, Israel will act in their best interest when its people are in jeopardy, whether the U>S> likes it or not.

No..It would create unstability in the middle east, other Arabic Nations would come to Palestines aid, which would result in a regional war, and thats if russia or china decidenot to intervene , if they do then theres a good chance we would come in to protect israel

What for? How is it reasonable to liberate people from a dictator who oppresses them and force democracy on them, but allow another similar group of people to be governed by a supressful regime? Why should only certain people (with oil) be allowed their freedom?
