Yes, it is absolutely fine. Why should anyone be able to tell two people that love one another what they can and cannot do? It is between the two people involved and no one else--especially the government.
All of you that use religion as the reason, please remember what the Lord said in the BIBLE:
"If any one of you is without sin, let him be the first to cast a stone at her. [John 8:7] Do not judge, lest you too be judged. For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you. [Matthew 7:1 & 2.] "
Please just let people have free will as as long as it does not harm others (which I cannot see how a gay marriage harms anyone) and let the Lord be the ultimate judge. If I had to bet, I'm sure God would be on the side of Love, whatever the situation.
Why is it that so many people think they can bestow their beliefs on others and have it legislated by our government? Our government was put in place to protect our individual rights--not take them away.
And if your reason a marriage is between a man and a women only is because they can have children then we better not allow marriage between infertile couples, couples who have no interest in having children, Senior Citizens, etc.
When you start to limit rights and freedoms it becomes a slippery slope and soon we all suffer the loss of our God-given liberties.

Hell no. Marriage as an institution is all about protecting the weaker sex, children and families. Gay thing is whatever it is, but it certainly isn't about procreation and raising children in an environment of safety.
God doesn't hate gay people, and most think they were born that way. Most are also very miserable being gay ... would do anything if they could just undo that thing they can't seem to undo. Marriage for gays isn't going to help any of that. And it will significantly water down traditional marriages and families ...as hard as it is to believe that the sanctity of marriage could be cheapened any further. No need to pile on to that.

I live in Canada and it is legal here already. I don't think it is right and many gay people ran out to get married as soon as it was legal.
And now our divorce rate is raising, because the gay community are also getting divorced.
I have lots of gay friends, and i dont think that they would consider it either.
A partner is a husband / wife already when living together. Why the need for a paper to say we are married to each other.

Yes!
It is about rights. Partners for life deserve the same protections that straight people get when they marry. To make gay people pay a whole bunch more money for the same rights is unfair.
If a civil union gave the same rights as marriage I'd be for a civil union. But the sad fact is that they give far less rights. That is unfair.
So I'm sorry if some hardline religious people don't like it. We don't tell you what to do in your bedroom. Don't you condescend to deny equal treatment to gays.

yes, they should be legalized. the only difference now is that gay couples have to go to great length and expense to obtain the same legal and property protections that straight couples obtain automatically through marriage, but by and large they can and do, anyway. Personally I think the amendment is just those who think homosexuality is "icky" trying to punish those who practice it.
Actually the state has no business in marriage. All the state should involve itself in is the legal status of domestic partnership, marriage should be left to the church.
Edit: I challenge Korny and Mz Badazz to expand upon how it would "destroy society" or make things "make matters worst(sic)"

Yes. We have never written discrimination into the constitution so why the hell should we start now? Some people don't agree with it from a religious aspect and that's fine. More power to them. But to deny any person the privilege of marrying the one they love is just plain wrong. I don't care what some old book says about it and how the people who read said book interpret it. The fact of the matter is that it's very wrong to not let them marry.

they argument isnt over a legal document, its semantic. when they say 'gay marriage' is legal in massachusetts, all it is a civil union under the guise of marriage. the definition of the word is being challenged, not the idea that two people of the same sex can have each other as decision makers in time of need or something like that. if you support civil unions, then yes, im all for you. but if you are supporting gay marriage, then youre supporting the change of the definition of the word, then if its two people of the same sex, whats next? guys marrying chickens?

Yes, it should be legalized. Consenting adults should be able to marry who they want. It is not anyone else's business. With all of the people complaining about it, you'd think that they were being pressured to marry someone of the same sex. The people who criticize gay marriage probably wouldn't have time to worry about who is marrying who if their own marriages and relationships were satisfactory and fulfilling.

Yes, everyone should have equal and legal rights; therefore, homosexuals should be able to marry. I find it humorous when people say God "made" marriage, we made marriage, it's a contract that "yes" the ceremony is in a church sometimes, but overall it is a contract. And face it, heterosexuals breech that contract all the time, so maybe with homosexuals marrying our divorce rate will become smaller. Love is love no matter who it is with.

Ofcourse NOT! When God created this world he put a system in it that was not intended to be broken, this system was for life to go on, and for it to go on there should by multiplication between people and if there are gay marriages (or lesbian marriages also) then the human race will not move on. There is no religion that accepts gays and/or lesbians.
