We've had Norton and AVG and neither one of them kept the viruses out. My advice is to stay out of lime wire and try another site. It cost us $98 to get the first virus removed.

just hope that u dont download anything with viruses...no lol actually i think that lime wire has some sort of virus protection thing built in....and i havent had any problems with it either and this is a quote from wikipedia "LimeWire uses the SHA-1 and Tiger tree hash cryptographically secure hash functions to ensure that downloaded data is uncompromised. Although researchers have identified possible vulnerabilities in the SHA1 algorithm, because LimeWire does not rely on SHA1 alone, these vulnerabilities do not have many adverse implications for LimeWire's verification of downloaded files." and it goes into more detail on the SHA-1 thing and the Tiger tree thing on wikipedia

limewire is pretty good as far as viruses go, i havent had any problems. i had norton antivirus, its absolute garbage...i had more problems with it than i did without it. the only thing you might get from limewire is spyware (not from the limewire program itself but from the files you download). go to www.download.com and they have a bunch of different programs you can use to cleanup your spyware. another thing i would do with limewire is to fix your settings so that nobody can download music from you.

My daughters dad downloads it every time he is at my house. It always installs some kind of virus or spy ware on my computer. He swears everyone else he knows never has this problem.

before each download right-click your wanted download and it'll say look up. It takes you to a site called Bitzi which tells you if its a virus.

don't download programs...it's too risky. Defender does well for me, norton slows things down too much...
