Unfortunatly I don't beleive that would ever happen. As long as their is money their will always be greed. And like I tell everybody that asks similar questions the number one most important thing next to food and water is the need to be noticed and the need to be important. It is the sinful nature of mankind to be materialistic. The only way that this would ever change is if the world experienced a catastrophic catastraphy that would wipe out life as we no it and forced humans to start over from scratch. Yes their still probably would be greed and materialistic people except it would be greatly reduced to the amount of people and the amount of things one could be materialistic with.

If the poor keep getting poorer and the middle class is struggling to keep what they have and many lose it, people won't have a choice.
I've ended up in a situation where I'm living well below poverty level. Not by choice obviously.
It's amazing how little we really need to get along.
People who are rich will always waste money, what a shame.
I'm not at all materialistic, but I was in the past and I have much less stress in my life now.

I'm thining not. everyone talks about how "down the earth" they really are, but come on.
especially in America. we are the world's biggest consumer of everything, from junk food to technology to oil, and we spend through the nose to get what we want. I mean really, if gas was $10 a gallon, people would pay it anyway, cause God forbid they should have to walk ten blocks to get to work.

probably not, since most people see material object as a status symbol that helps us rise above others and we want to feel better about ourselves in compairison to others. I know I like the way I feel when I think I have cuter dogs than someone else or that my clothes look much better than someone else.
Yeh its really stupid but its just the way alot of people are subconsciously

When we finally realize those toys we buy are just useless junk, the money we bust our humps for is just slugs of metal and pieces of paper, and the people we idolized are just as screwed up as we are. Course, it may take an asteroid hitting the earth to emphasize the point, but you get what I mean.

probably not. self centered and arrogant people seem to thrive on this, they've just gotta have more or the new item before others.
