Do not go to the teacher. She/he is not a doctor. She/he is not qualified to make any assumption about a diagnosis or medical illness. Take your son to a pediatrician and ask him/her.

There are normally many, many things you can do at home, like make sure your son is getting to bed at a reasonable hour, not eating too much sugar or candy, diet can greatly affect attention span.

Medication only teaches him to be dependant on drugs, rather than learning to control himself. That is not what we want to be teaching our children.

it appears like your son is battling some issues and they pick you to have him examined so that they comprehend how you could help him. If he's examined and positioned to have ADHD he might want to nicely be positioned on an IEP in school no matter if he's taking medicine or no longer. The IEP will enable him to recieve some speech treatment in school, and function some particular accomidations jointly with added time on assessments. i might want to a minimum of have him examined through a speech pathologist...it appears like as sensible as he's he has some receptive speech subject matters and per chance some apraxia ( a developmental version of what takes position even as an elderly individual has a stroke that is affecting thier speech. that is a breakdown in communique between the mind and the mouth and would reason subject matters with vocabulary keep in mind). both my boys are technically in "particular ed". My oldest is on the autism spectrum with ADHD gains. His sixth and seventh grade years he had a school room aide to help him jointly with his more advantageous diffcult instructions and her pastime became partly to help save him targeted and to re-tutor if he had problems with a theory. That being reported...this spring they did a try called WRAT and he examined 2-5 years ahead in math and english. he's already going to be taking algebra even as he begins eighth grade. My youthful son has verbal apraxia and is specially desires preschool on an IEP. he's in a school room with 7 different particular desires young ones and four "known" young ones. He receives speech treatment once a week. on the end of the three hundred and sixty 5 days he became between the more youthful particular ed young ones, yet became contained in the gang of four&5 three hundred and sixty 5 days previous known young ones for thier worksheets and stuff. even as the more youthful young ones were studying ABCs he became studying rhyming sounds and pre-interpreting stuff with the tremendous young ones.

most children start showing signs of add/adhd around the age of 4-5. I'd say your best bet is to talk to your childs teacher, usually they can tell by age 7,but be warned, most school systems get extra funding for children with this disorder...i know this to be true because my daughters principle told me this..be careful of overmedicating too..some docs love that...it has a real effect of their little bodies..good luck!
