The only painful part about it is the injection to numb the toe before the procedure. And the injection isn't all that bad. Little stick from the needle...then a little burning from the lidocaine. After that you feel nothing. Pain afterward is minimal provided you follow the doctor's post op instructions.

Listen! My best friend was in the military for years. And he always had ingrown toe nails removed. He said the first few times he had it done (because his always grew back) hurt but then he got used to it. He said after a while he started to enjoy the feeling of them removing them. His were so bad that they are going to remove the whole nail and (i forget what it's called) the thing that produces the nail. Hey tell your husband "good luck" and it'll be over in a jiffy...

those are the worst! i have gained many information by the years. you've were given to be careful, because in case you've were given an infection in there, it would want to get severe. If the floor bordering your nail receives red and is amazingly painful to the contact, pass see your physician. i have had 2 very undesirable ingrown toenails, both genuinely one of them on the huge toe on both ft. Very painful! An ingrown toenail takes position even as the nail starts growing to be in the floor bordering your toe, the position the call comes from. What you want to do is commence reducing your nails sq. - do not round down the perimeters of the nail. sparkling the perimeters of your nails frequently, all styles of poop receives stuck in there - sock lint, airborne dirt and airborne dirt and dirt, inspite of. each day, take a cuticle remover (a small device you will get at a pharmacy, feels like a stitching device used to get rid of stitches), and gently flow out the gunk got here upon between your nail and the floor surrounding it. that is a might want to to push it from the start of your toenail to the end of your toenail - in case you pass from end to beginning, you would possibly want to push something interior and create an infection. sparkling your cuticle remover device with alcohol after each use - use TP or a cotton ball, placed some rubbing alcohol on that, and rub the device some cases. each from time to time you'll experience some calloused skin between your nail and the floor surrounding your nail. commonly this demanding skin desires to be bumped off, because it sort of grabs onto your nail, and also you want to allow your nail advance out with out having snagged. If the nail receives snagged, it will turn inwards, and advance inwards, exacerbating your problem. i desire this permits - keep doing this until eventually your nail grows out and also you may see the perimeters of both fringe of your nail. If it receives worse, pass see your physician!

the only bad part is the shot to numb it...but it's not really any worse than any other shot. My doc took out part of the nail root so it wouldn't continue to ingrow. Had both my big toes done about 20 years ago and it was a piece of cake and I've never had a problem since!

Its a catch 22. It has the potential to be a little painful but the immediate relief of the ingrown toenail pain is well worth it. Good luck

The doctor will numb the area before removing it. It is a very simple procedure and well worth it. NO MORE PAIN!

My son had both big toes done several years ago......it didn't feel good.....definitely the shot hurt, and when the dr. cauterized it, it stunk! It looks pretty gross, too.
