What you have to do is "slave" your second hard drive. Basicly you attach the hard drives together. One as a master one as a slave. Your computer will recognize the two seprate hard drives and you will be able to put anything on either or . IE you can put all your movies on your 500 gb slave. Here is a step by step tuturial if your trying to do it yourself http://www.ehow.com/how_6030_install-second-hard.html Good luck!

Assuming you have some hardware knowledge and know which type of hard drive to use, and have made sure it's properly addressed, the operating system will assign a logical drive letter to the primary partition of the drive and the other partitions that may exist on the drive -depending on how you set the drive up. This could be any drive letter; the operating system has a set order of precedence that it uses to determinate the drive letter. For instance, a USB drives are usually given drive letters first. The floppy drive -if it has one- is almost always given A or B which are reserved. Then USB drives which are present during the initial operating system load, will be given drive letters, so, C through as many drives as you have that are USB and were present during the initial OS loading will take these letters, finally, your primary boot partition of your master hard drive and then your primary partition of your slave drive followed by extended partitions of the master drive and finally the extended partitions of your slave drive. The drive letter order will be different if you are using SCSI or RAID. Finally, you use the space on the drive the way you do any other drive. If in a program, you save files to a directory on the new drive, that's exactly where you are going to find them when you open them.
If you are using windows XP and you want to move files back and forth between drives, open MY COMPUTER then go to TOOLS then FOLDER OPTIONS and check the box under FOLDER OPTIONS GENERAL TAB that says "open each folder in separate window". Now, you can click on each drive and it will open a window for each drive. You can now drag files back and forth between drives. You can also do this in EXPLORER by right clicking on the START button and choose EXPLORE or EXPLORE ALL USERS. In windows 98, ME, 95 the procedure is close to the same thing- just look for folder options and "open each folder in separate window"

If you want them to work as one drive you'll have to put them in a RAID. (Redundant Array of Inexpensive Drives).
