Jennifer, I'm assuming maybe you haven't started yet? I used to be very afraid of getting it. Now, it's no big deal. You might not even get cramps - some people don't. And you can still do all the active things you would normally do. It's just a little change to get used to, and you will be fine. :)

Menstruation is one of the passages to womanhood... there is nothing to be scared about. It is simply the shedding of the uteran lining of the vagina, nothing more... every time you ovulate and do not become pregnant, your body eliminates the extra tissue that built up inside of your uterus to accomadate a fetus. Your first few years of menstruation can be sporradic and odd.. but birth control will stabilize this if it becomes too much of a problem. There can be cramping and some bloating also... your hormones can escalte and cause mood swings. Don't be scared of what your body needs to do naturally to keep your hormones in balance. It is just a part of being a woman. Shalom.

I was when I figured I had PMDD. Now I just laugh at all the people who AREN'T scared of me having my period. :-)

Yup. I have endometrosis, and it hurts like crazy.
