I just want to help people. I want to help make a difference in the world and maybe help the world be a better, more peaceful place. I want to help people in poverty, and i want to be a good person. I dream of one day having all the contries come together and make peace and understanding.
Is this a lost cause, or is it possible?

You must nearly have the faith the size of a mustard seed Jesus once told someone. The mustard seed is, if not one the small seeds, and it grows to be the biggest trees. Anything is possible you must only believe. But along with faith you must do works, without action we only speak words. Your hearts in the right place. God gave us all a free will. And if what you say you feel is true, You are wanting to do Gods will, by helping your brothers and sisters. If you you feel discouraged, don't, because no role goes unnoticed no matter how small it appears our lives are so short we are unable to see the big picture sometimes. Do what you can have heart, faith and a will to persevere and you can do anything. With God anything is possible. Don't mean to get religious but i find God and the bible to be a great inspiration.

it is possible, but not under the current conditions of nationalistic pride, the current form of democracy and the people in power of dictatorships/ rigged election states of governments.. i hypothesis that the only thing that will bring the country together, and out of poverty as a whole is that another civilization exist, and threatening us. or eventually being so advanced that going to china is just as much work as walking to your neighbors house.. or that one person unites the world under his own flag, in the general interest of well being, and then turns it into a global democracy. but we have no hope of changing the world in near future.. and that people in poverty will stay there for a long time.. and that we can help, but that they will always be more.

It's a lost cause. Start with making little differences, be nice to people and help where you can. You won't change the world, but if you make somebody smile, that's rather a lot.

Possible but it will require hardwork, the ability to make solid decisions, compromises, lead people, gain their trust and respect, etc. But go ahead and try if you have only changed the world for a few but you have made it better for them then you have acomplished something. Don't dream big live big.

Of course, it's not a lost cause. It's probably not gonna happen, but it's possible. Not everyone is always going to agree on everything, so that leaves us where we are today.

Now, if we just got rid of the other side...then their would be peace.

You can at least change some of it, but not all of it. Go for it, follow your heart and dreams. You won't change the whole world, but you can change some people's world for the better. And that's a start, because they can go on to do the same for someone else.
