I chose a punishment for not meeting a realistic goal. For instance, say perhaps I am neglecting a household chore, I invite the pickiest person I know over by the deadline, and then if I don't meet my obligation, I know I will suffer embarassment and shame for my laziness. One time I was procrastinating about EVERTHING, so I did A DRASTIC thing. I called 5 of my friends and invited them over for a dinner party in 4 days. No more procrastination!!!
Sometimes "laziness" is really depression for some people. If this behavior is "new" perhaps you need to talk to a friend and see if they have some suggestions. Talk a bit...but most important: listen. Your friends/family probably could and would give you some insight into what is wrong. That is so tough, of course, but if you really want to change, ask...and receive.

If it's not laziness it could be lack of energy, drive etc. which could be depression. In that case that's be medicine and therapy.
Not being interested in stuff in general could also be a part of your character. Which makes laziness something to enjoy rather than combat.
I have seen a couple of different people with general tendency for laziness.
One of them broke out of it and never stops action. Busy with work, friends, problems, family... Thought this happened naturally. It seemed like he needed to act so to get things he wanted.
One other keeps the laziness inside him somewhere, just gets motivated with work I guess. Has emotional explosions once in a while for things he like or interest him. (not anger explosions or negative things) He also gets stressed and depressed once in a while. But this particular example is a rahter eccentric personality.
My overall observation about people who are lazy is that they are somewhat more immune to stress than others. They don't mind useless details and are able to keeping it simple without overanalyzing.
Good luck.

If Guiness Book had a record for Laziness, I would have been
holding that tile undisputed.
I suffered from Jaundice that kept me on bed for 2 years. Then came panic attacks, one year more. Then anxiety with acuite depression, which went on for about 4 years.
During this time, my mind & body became the laziest possible.
Took lot of advices from folks, but slowly got myself together, and can no onger bid for the Guiness Record. How?

There is no such thing as laziness, just lack of motivation. Everyone has something that they are passionate about. Find that thing or things and "laziness" will disappear. Other underlying causes: depression and similar emotional states of being. Look for what is going on emotionally or motivation-wise and solve the problem from that angle.

Laziness is an attitude. Just go infront of the mirror every day for 10 minutes, watch urself and tell loudly that you are proud of yourself and will do something wonderful today. The next day tell to yourself what have you done so wonderful yesterday. Feel the difference....ABRACADABRA......The laziness is gone.

So simple.

First thing is to get off the back and be out of the house. It is always the first step that needs to be taken for the next to follow.
