I'm not, but it's ok. Many people get scared of the water. Overcome the fear and you'll get over it. Even if the beach had a chance of sharks, they live farrrrr into the ocean. Just make sure you have nothing shining on and no blood dripping at on your skin and you'll be ok. (I went into oceans where sharks live there. No accidents. :) )

You are not alone! I live near a very popular lake and while everyone else is swimming in the water I am on land watching with envy! Sometimes I will put my feet in. You're so right to just want to swim in pools they are much cleaner and safer!

I am. I had a near drowning experience when I was a toddler. 30 years later it still takes me a long time to get in waist deep at the beach. I wont go in lake water. It takes some time to over come the fears. Do a little at a time. Start in a shallow area, and AT YOUR PACE, advance a little. It will be hard, but its worth it. Good luck!

Oh my goodness....I had to laugh when I saw your question!!
My thirteen year old neice was telling my just today that she is afraid to swim in any water where she cant see the bottom.
Its funny because she's on the swim team at school!!

I used to be like that and I still sorta am. The way I ignore it is pretend I'm in a pool. Sometimes it works and others it doesn't, but most of the time it does.

Sometimes. The only thing to do is have so much fun, you forget about it.
Doesn't help that there are lots of "creatures in the water eating innocents" movies :p

I scuba dive and the idea of not being able to see what is under me still kind of freaks me out! I find that I have to remind myself that I've been down there and there is nothing down there that is even remotely interested in me. Learn about the aquatic wildlife in your area, it might make you feel better.

I just jump in without out thinking what's in it, if other people are in it then it must be okay! but if you live in Florida don't go in any lake. Alligators are everywhere. I hope that you overcome your fear soon!
