Why do gay men care so much about how they look ? But Gay women do not ? it seems like gay men really try hard to be attractive, yet gay females try to look as ugly as possible . Of course this is just the majority, you will have pretty lesbians and ugly gay men, but they are the minority.

This is my theory: A lot of gay men love attention, from anyone, straight women, men, other gay men. Lesbians often what to let it be known, they are not into men and care nothing about trying to attract one.

Because appearance is everything! Things must appear to be good, especially when they aren't -- have you learned nothing from the Bush admnistration?
People look how they look and dress how they want to dress. Do you really think lesbians say to themelves, "What can I do to look awful today? Maybe...warts, where are my warts?" Stuff and nonsense. How "ugly" do you think Ellen DeGeneres is? Or Rosie O'Donnell?
It is soooooooo not even the majority. I have to wonder what stereotypes you've seen that you base this on. Not all gay men go to the gym, not all lesbians change someone's oil before going to work.
Would you also concede that it is possible that you cannot tell at all times when someone is gay? Especially in these days of the metrosexual?
I wouldn't have answered the question if I didn't think there was hope for you, but you do have a lot of "loaded words" in there.

I think this is a very unfair stereotype first of all....BUT, if this were true I would say simply because men are more superficial than women are...gay or straight. Women are much more likely to fall in love with a person who is kind considerate, intelligent and can make them laugh. Men like all that too, but they will settle for a ditz with a tight a.s.s and a big set of... GENERALLY SPEAKING...hey if we're labeling and stereotyping....
Again not all men are like that. How important looks are to a person is a personal issue which I dont think has anything to do with sexuality.

Why does anyone care about they way they look? This question should be on a broader scope not just singled to gay males, yeah we care how we look, we are not going to walk out the door looking like crap we want noticed and don't want to be wearing last falls line when we enter the club. And you obviously need to tune your gaydar a lil better, there are some ugly guys/girls out there striaght and gay alike, and some who are not. for instance yesterday at work two girls came in (lesbian) one was dressed in a green polo shirt with jeans and tennis shoes short spikey hair, the other in cargo shorts, tennis shoes, and a shirt with the number 4 on the front and back, sunglasses in hair, carrying a red sweatshirt. they were sooo cute, and looked good too. and i am not acctracted to the female race at all, but they were cute. just felt like sharing.

gay men tend to take good care of themselves. Not all do -- trust me -- those who engage in drugs and orgies obviously don't -- but a lot of us do. I like to look as good as I can because I believe (and experience bears out) that it helps shape how other people see me. Now I would also say that the mentality is similar to that among women -- where one's appearance leads partially to one's sense of self worth as well -- but I can't verify that with any certainty.

Every man should care about how they look. I don't know about gay females really, there are lots of hot lesbians but you probably don't tag them as lesbians.
for the matter, how do you know who is gay? maybe you only notice the obvious ones, which could show a flaw in your concept of them

That is a sterotype, it's not true. There are many lovely bisexaul girls and lesbians that could out flash any model, like Gia Carangi, the world's most famous supermodel, that happened to be bi.
You just don't know very many bi girls or lesbians or you wouldn't feed into that sterotype. Go to a gay/straight alliance to meet new people outside your circle of friends.

first of all there are plenty of hot gay women, you just assume they are str8. As far as ugly gay guys, pick a bear! What you are talking about are the stereotypes and they are obvious because these are the people you automatically assume are gay.

uhmm.. its probably that you don't notice that the pretty lesbians are lesbians and the non-girly gay men(ugly as you called them) you don't notice are gay, you just think they are normal guys? I know just as many ugly gay/lesbians and pretty ones of each.
