Humble yourself under the mighty hand of God. If you just go about the day saying good things about people and not getting caught up in gossip as others, you will turn things around. Let your light shine that they may see your good deeds and works and soon others will follow.

Most contacts in life are with people and most " hang-ups" involve human beings. Much of our happiness ( or lack of it ) comes from our relationships with other people.
From what you have described about your co-workers, I see a lack of self-image and self-concept within your team. If a person feels negatively about himself, he will usually have a distorted view of others, at least in some ways. And much of his effort ( perhaps unconsciously) will be directed toward compensating what he's lacking, and as result, his behavior will show through in how he interacts with his co-workers, friends etcetra. Some, of course, are unaware of their behavior or the cause of it. While others know of it and without help find it difficult to apply in day to day associations. When you do not feel close to people you co-exist with at home, work, wherever many problems arise such as jealousy, suspicions, anxiety and so on.
People live in their own little worlds, and this is quite true and it's natural. People live in their own little worlds and find it hard to move out of them. But anyone who wants to successfully open the door to others, must leave their own little world and enter theirs. People have concerns and problems that they are happy to have someone to listen to them.
This is something you can do to build the bridge to your co-workers. You will possibly be much more the happier for doing this and the rift in your work place won't seem so alien. Besides, there is good in everyone, there may be certain persons that you would not care to approach, but even they have something to offer. True, you might like to change your associates, but you would spend a life-time just trying. Just remember that its important to accept people for what they are rather than for what they are not.You will be much more realistic and all the more happier. You will miss a lot if you fail to look for their strenghts and instead focus on their weaknesses. You may wish that they were different, but wishing, won't change them. You will find it easier to get along and influence them if you stop looking at their undesirable personality traits.
When you show your co-workers gratitude and appreciation for what they have to offer, your world will become more meaningful and enjoyable and your co-workers will identify more easily with you.
I also recommend talking, communicate with your co-workers, even say good morning, every morning, even if its not returned, it soon will be. Open the conversations with them and encourage them to talk to you, it will make for a world of change. Realize that also, it takes time to change, you cannot expect them to change overnight. Allow them to see you in a different light, and they in turn will start functioning on a new basis. This requires patience on your part as change takes time, especially when feelings are involved.
If your honest and forthright, you will bring about the change in your work place for the better. Credibility is a basic factor in true confidence between people, if you are to build the bridges between your co-workers, your honesty will shine through and cause others to appreciate you and the more likely to be accepted among your co-workers. Good Luck

We (people in general) suck as far as being 'good' to each other. Most people don't want to work, but, do want to get paid...anything or anyone in between is inconsequential!!!
