If you are using Windows XP then there is an easy way to restore your lost files. Go to Start Menu > Help and Support > undo changes to your computer with system restore > restore my computer to an earlier time. Choose a restore point and click [next].

YES!!! yes there is. :) ok, this is what you do:
*NOTE: Before you open the System Restore console, you may want to save your work and close all programs since System Restore requires you to restart your computer.
There are two ways to access System Restore:
-Through Help and Support:
Click Start, and then click Help and Support.
Under Pick a Task, click Undo changes to your computer with System Restore.
Follow the instructions on the wizard.
-Through the All Programs menu:
Click Start.
Point to All Programs.
Point to Accessories.
Point to System Tools.
Click System Restore.
Follow the instructions on the wizard.
Creating a restore point can be useful any time you anticipate making changes to your computer that are risky or might make your computer unstable. If something goes wrong, you select the restore point you just created and Windows XP undoes any system changes made since that time.
Hope You Get Back What Went Wrong!

You could try the system restore program. I took some programs out of mine, and then I realized I took out my incredimail also. I went into the programs and went up to the pc help. Clicked on that and then you get a long list of things. I hit the system restore and then another screen comes up. It will ask you the date that you want it restored to, just put in the date you want, and if it is cable, it will not take long at all. If it is dial up, it will take awhile.
I just screwed up something myself. I have windows in my recycle bin, and asked for help on how to get that out. That was a dumb thing for me to do.. I am still learning about computers, and I don't know how windows got in there. So I messed up good.
I hope this might help you out some. But system restore did give me back the programs that I had gotten rid of. I got my mail site back. Good luck with this. I know how you feel

Wow, just by trying to burn a CD? The recovery disc that comes with the computer MAY help. I emphasize 'may' because I haven't used one in such a long time that I can't remember if it actually deletes everything, or restores everything. I do know that you use it if the computer is rendered useless by some virus or loss of a vital protocol. So, read the instructions before you use the recovery disc!

Have you try going to edit in the folder you lost everything and click undo? Try that first then if not try reboot the computer hit the f8 key on the boot up (keep hitting f8 ) till you get a screen with options like safe mode ect pick "last know good configuration" . If this doesn't fix it there is a program that will retrieve everything. It is called GetDataBack Hope this helps Good Luck

if indeed he has erase everything as you say then go to programs, accessories, system tools, system restore and restore to an earlier date so you can go back in time a day a week or a month all depends that your system restore was always on and all the files that where deleted by a certain date can be restored. without any effort this is brought to you by the nightslayer.
PS: tell me how it went.

Are they in the Recycle Bin? If so, you can restore them from the bin. If not you can call a computer technician and have them recover everything using software from OnTrack (www.ontrack.com)

If its not in the Recycle Bin, you'll have to use some other 3rd party software to undelete it. www.download.com has a lot of software that does it
Be careful, it may take a while and may not get everything.

Are you sure you're just not logged in under a different user?
Try logging on as yourself / look in the god damn recycle bin.
