I'm rereading the Mars book series.Edgar Rice Burroughs wrote the Mars novels and the tarzan novels. There are 11 novels in the mars series beginning with 'a princess of mars'.Captain John Carter of the Confederate Army is whisked to Mars and discovers a dying world of dry ocean beds where giant four-armed barbarians rule, of crumbling cities home to an advanced but decaying civilization, a world of strange beasts and savage combat, a world where love, honor and loyalty become the stuff of adventure. The later books are about his son Carthoris, daughter Tara etc.John carter is a recurring character in all these books as martians live for 1000 years.
You can get free e-books by edgar rice burroughs,O.Henry and rafael sabatini from Project Gutenberg.

I'm reading the Sword of Truth series, by Terry Goodkind. Currently on book 5, Soul of the Fire. It's really good, but not nearly as amazing as the first 2 in the series. Those I couldn't put down for more than a second. But Terry Goodkind is still an excellent author.
I did find it odd that in a fantasy setting where one character's name is Kahlan, another's is Zedd that main character's name is Richard.... XP
Anyway, after this I'll start the Wheel of Time. Don't know who it's by, but my father-in-law says they're even better than Sword of Truth, so that's up next. The way I read I'll be done with both by September!

I'm reading on of my childhood favorites - 'Catherine Called Birdy' by Karen Cushman. Not only does this Lady Catherine (daughter to a very high-born lady and a knight) play in the mud with the local goat boy, but she also sets a few suitors on fire in the privy! An all-around good summer read!

I'm reading Dickens, Bleak House. I passed it up when I was young because it's a healthy bit of reading, page-wise, I mean. So far so good is my call on it through the first 100 pages; the experts rate it as his masterpiece. Go figure. I'll know if I really liked it when I pick it up for a reread. That's my norm for the best of the best... I recently reread "DaVinci Code." I guess it was a good one; and, what-the-Hell, I'll probably give the movie a shot, too.

I am reading a young adult novel called A Fabulous Creature. It's interesting, but I have definitely read better. I just bought a book by Lisa Wingate called Drenched in Light that I plan on reading once I finish the other. I haven't read any of her books, but I have heard many positive reviews. I wonder if any of you have read her works. Please tell us what you think of her writing.
