A strong memorable melody. Lyrics that people can relate to. They also need a good "hook". This can be in the melody, maybe in the chorus, or just repeating catch phrases or words.
Bad songs have no memorable melody or no melody at all some times and lyrics no one or very few people can relate to.

The lyrics and words , along with the singer and their method ,
along with the band is either going to make or break a song. It all
has to come together to make it a good song. Examples:
If a person does not have soul ,then they shouldn't sing soul music, If a person does not have any kind of knowledge of the
blues , its not going to happen if that singer sings that song like a
pop tune.Perfect song for BB King was The Thrill is Gone. I can't
picture a country music singer singing that.

Shine On You loopy Diamond is extremely slow languorous and drawn out, a twin of a good make out consultation should be. that's why it really is seen good for that objective, maximum Floyd songs are easily. the perfect combination of melody and lyrics, I will not listen to rap simply because most of the lyrics are degrading and inappropriate. I mean i'm not to fond of the beat either but anyway.... I like to listen to rock because i like being able to feel the emotion in the music even just in the beat
bad songs are bad when it is about something inapropriate, the vocals suck, or the beat is just completely well um....yea you know what i mean

The beat, and the Lyrics!
When people feel connected to a song their bound to become obessed with it, my friend for instance had never heard "LINKIN PARK" before and I showed her the "Breaking the Habit" video and she clicked immeaditly she felt VERY connected to the singer.
The beat was also part of it, the tune was catchy and got her attention instantly [She suffers from Bipolar disorder, and ADD]
