Cloth diapers have changed alot. Don't believe me? Check out some on www.bum-ware.com Not my site, ,but I have purchased a few diapers from her.

If you don't, why? They are good for the environment. They are good for little bottoms. They are good for the ole wallet.

I was really suprised to find that disposible diapers have ingredients that were banned from tampons in the eighties. We can't use them once a month, but we will strap them on our babies behinds for years!

I don't use pins either. Most of my son's diapers snap or velcro to fasten.

No plastic pants either - they are extinct.

I always used cloth on my kids. With 5 kids, I don't think we used a single disposables *ever*. I am in complete agreement with you!! (And you forgot to mention that cloth-diapered babies smell like *babies*, not chemicals!! And their butts don't feel like plastic...)

I used cloth diapers for my first child. Not a diaper service, I had my own.
There are pluses and minuses to them. And not everyone is up to the job that it takes to use them. They are not that easy, especially if you don't want your house to smell like dirty diapers.

I don't know what they're like now, but when I used them, I had to use a triple thickness at night and double during the day. So we had to have a lot of diapers. The plastic pants stink and hold in the heat during the summer. And don't even think about going without them!

When I used them, I used to completely wash them out before putting them into the diaper pail (I used diaper sweet). Then the bleaching! Thankfully I had a husband who did this with me 50/50. If I did a poopy diaper, he did the next one. It's not a taste I'd want to take on alone.

I applaud you for taking up the cause, but I do believe that cloth diapers are pretty much a thing of the past. People will choose convenience over environment every time. Sadly, I did for our second.

I've used a variety of cloth diapers over the past 3 years (in addition to disposables). I love cloth! The main drawback to it, IMO, is that cloth needs to be changed more often, so it's not as convenient for trips away from home that last more than a couple hours.

I use mostly "new" cloth like Fuzzi Bunz and Happy Heinys. I also have some fitted and "old-fashioned" prefolds that I use with velcro covers (Bummis and a few others).

People who haven't seen new cloth diapers are generally surprised at how different they are than the pins and plastic pants our parents used.

I use them. I use Kushies ultra all in one and they are fabulous. They go on just like a disposable. Although I do have to say you need to change them more often than a disposable. I use a disposable at night. I also moisten washcloths instead of using the wipes. They clean better and I just wash them with the diapers. Cloth diapers are no big deal, they have saved us tons of money and I feel good about saving the environment. When I tell people that I use cloth diapers they give me a really weird look. I just laugh.

I use both cloth & disposable diapers for my baby. Up until he was about 5 months, I used the old fashioned ones that need pins. These are great because they dry super-fast. Can't use them now because he won't sit still long enough for me to put them on! We are on to the "new models": velcro, rubber hooks, padded pull up pants etc. For nights, on rainy days or days we have to be on the go, we use disposables. My baby has never had rashes EVER and his cheeks are smooth as silk!

I guess alot of us like convenience rather than what's good. My mom actually used these on my girls when they were babies. It was good on their little butts and safe. I also used the pampers, I actually used them more than I should have, but the cloth diapers are really great on them. We do like what's best for our little ones, but the convenience is what matters. Mom's today think about the washing of the cloth diapers, rather than comfort of their babies. I took pleasure in washing my girls cloth diapers, mind you they did smell if you did not rinse them out right away, but it was worth it. I did them all the poop ones the pee ones you name them I did them. Their father also helped from time to time, I think he rather liked it himself, it actually saved him on buying diapers, so I guess that's probably what he liked(smile). Also when you wash them with your hands and put them out to dry on lines that is, I never used the dryer for the girls stuff, so they dried naturally. All the line of diapers drying in the wind, white and freshly washed. I liked those days. My girls are actually 16 and 13 now so it's been a while, but I took pleasure in all the little wonders , even washing the poopy ones. THAT'S WHAT MOTHERHOOD IS ALL ABOUT!!

Not now but I did when my daughter was a baby. I loved them & I think she did too. We used diapers (diaper service) when we were at home and pampers when we went out.

I only use them as dust cloths. They do a great job and like you said "are easy on the wallet."
