They tend to live in houses.
Seriously though. If your foreign, i'd suggest one of the very liberal citys. New York or L.A. Pretty much any big city will be good for someone foreign. Everyone's too busy to notice.

If you want to meet the nicest people, in America or anywhere else, pick a relatively small town where people know each other and can get to know you. There are bad people everywhere but in smaller communities everyone knows everyone else and it helps to keep bad behaviour from being tolerated. People can be prejudice but in most communities today it is not only frowned on, it is against the law...and the majority of people will not tolerate it...if they do, it is time to find a different community...but on the whole, small communities have a more friendly and neighborly attitude. Good luck with your search!

The cemetery!! Ha, HA. And they treat all people the same there no matter what country religion etc. No actually it doesn't really matter most people in America are way to self centered to care enough to be nice to others and most Americans cant even be decent to other Americans, But its not just us have you ever met more than 1 or two really nice Frenchmen?

The best place in the US for an outsider to stay would be the place where a single outsider has not been mugged or killed or beaten up so far !!
Every place in the world has good and bad people. How good people are would depend on how good you are with them.
while it is ok to preserve your own identity and culture - you should be like sugar dissolved in milk wherever you stay. If you act like lime the milk goes bad !

I would say Hawaii. There are many different cultures living on that islan(s) state and they seem to be friendly to everyone. I have travelled extensively in the US and for the most part I have found nice people every where I have been.

Not here! People in cities, even small cities like here in St Louis tend to be very busy and not too nice. We traveled through Oklahoma, and the people were very nice (apart from 2 older men that made a racist remark) But I think the rest made up for it, they went out of their way to be nice to us!

There are nice people everywhere. People only treat you how you let me. I find most people are responsive to a smile or a wave. It really is contagious.

New York. They welcome all. I have been to 48 states, and New York is by far the nicest. Avoid the south, they hate foreigners and anyone from the north. Californians are fake. Midwest is OK. Southwest is OK .
