Go to Fisherman's Wharf and walk around there. Walk to Pier 39 and then take a tour to Alcatraz. (Buy your tickets before you come out). Walk to the cable car from the wharf and purchase a round trip ticket. Go to China Town. Go to Golden Gate park and see the sites there, especially the Japanese Tea Gardens. Go to the San Francisco Zoo.....shopping at Union Square is also really fun. It is wonderful place to visit.

You have to go to Chinatown, of course. There's the Golden gate bridge which you have to walk, and you have to ride the bart (which is the subway system there). There are a lot of different cultures there, so you should try to visit whatever you can while you are there. There's also Fisherman's Wharf which is a tourist trap, but you have to see it to say you were there.
The weather is pretty nice. In the evening though, you need a light jacket or sweater. Just enjoy yourself. I loved San Francisco when I went there. Enjoy!

I was borned and raised in San Francisco and have seen it all. My favorite place is still Coit Tower. You can see the beautiful San Francisco bay and the surrounding counties. You can walk around the Tower and see the city views. And the mosaic murals inside Coit Tower will give you an artistic view of past events.

is this 1st trip to San Francisco? If yes, take walking tour of Chinatown, go to Fisherman's Wharf one day, take car trip if possible down Lombard crookedest street, take cable car ride from downtown to the Wharf. Have dinner at Top of Fairmont on Nob Hill, if possible.
Take time to visit Golden Gate Park and take walk (wear comfortable shoes) across Golden Gate Bridge to Sausalito, have lunch - take ferry back.

Sausalito, across the Golden Gate Bridge, a beautiful little town on the water where you can shop and eat lunch. Also, farmer's market, Ghiradelli Square, the Crooked Street, Alcatraz.

See the Musee Mechanique. It used to be under the Cliff House, but they moved it to Pier 45 at Fisherman's Wharf. You can see the original "Laughing Sal" from SF's Playland at the Beach, plus loads of very old mechanical figures, etc. that still work. It's fascinating.

If you go to Alcatraz -- it is a great tour -- but look into getting your tickets ahead of time on the internet. You cannot just go out there and look around -- you must have a tour -- and they book up ahead of time. And don't get your heart set on a trolley car ride -- the lines are ridiculously long!
