Sorry, but when he started doing movies like the Truman Show and Eternal Sunshine, I think he realized he could be funny without being the village idiot....

Are you kidding Dumb and Dumber is a great movie so Is Ace Ventura, sorry your not a Jim Carrey fan but there are some of us who like the goofy comedy

I think he's a better dramatic actor than comedic actor (except for Ace Ventura/Dumb & Dumber), so I think he's FINALLY making good movies.
I think that most actors want to try different roles, so he'll do a drama so he's working in a different area-might not make money, but at least he's trying something different. Then he'll try his hand at comedy again so the studios don't forget that he's a money maker for them & that in turn gives him the oppertunity to do another drama.
Before he got Ace Ventura & In Living Color, he did a drama called "Doing Time on Maple Drive". It was a dramatic TV movie...he was a main character-who was an alcoholic.

The last funny work that Jim Carrey did was on 'In Living Color', the tv show. I haven't seen him do anything funny since then.
So, I guess 1990? 16 years ago?

he was in Dick and Jane that movie was great and I'm not a big fan of Jim Carrey

Maybe because he hasnt gotten any good scripts lately...that guy commands about 24 million a movie....so maybe the some of the Producers cant afford him...he is very wealthy

Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind was his own "really good" movie anyway... Do you mean when did he stop being funny?
