The continent of Africa holds various countries.
But it is said that there is a genetic predisposition for africans to commit violence. I however will disagree because I fear being called a racist.

You need a book! I read "Guns, Germs, and Steel", by Jared Diamond. It is a lengthy book, but I thought it was so interesting that I read it within a couple days (maybe 3 - it was a while back that I read it). It deals with your question in a way that is much more in depth than any of us could.
