It is also common for Chinese women to drink a strong herbal potion to help ease labor pains. A woman will typically undergo her labor in an armchair or futon and, once the baby is born, she will pray to the goddess who helped her conceive, offering her sweet meats and incense.

After the baby is born, there is a well-established postnatal practice called "doing or sitting the month." During this time, a new mother does not leave the home and can stay in bed the whole time, if she wishes, to rest. Traditionally, she should have an assistant to accompany her during this period - usually the mother-in-law.

well, i don't know if this applies to chinese women but when my sister was pregant she said that if u poke a preagnt woman's belly the baby will have freckles but it didn't work because my neice hasn't got a single one!!there's also the "crawl over your man" theory. while getting up with morning sickness, crawl over your man when getting out of bed and it passes the sickness to him.

Dunno about Chinese pregnant women, but an ancient Chinese method of birth control is for the man to insert a stone into his left shoe and walk 3 miles..it makes him "limp". Nye
