that why you as a parent have to try and become the real influence let them know that it's more to life than baggy jeans gold chains,grills(that's gold teeth)boob jobs. etc. if Ur teaching them right they will know . than at the same time some of them people work real hard to get were their at let let the kids know that stuff comes with lots of hard work

cause they are the icons of our time. there have allways been icons. and since these celebreties are on tv, magazones and almost everywhere u turn.... u cant really help wanting or admiring them, can you?!
i mean its only natural, in the human nature to admire someone else. hey or else ud be like a hermit or smthing! lol

a lot of the time it's because there is no parent or role model at home so they look up to those they see on tv.

you must be talking about teens....like keeping up with the jones's....it's just a phase, they go thru, have to keep up with their peers, to fit in....materialistic...good time later, to let them know what' to dream for, and what goal to head for....perhaps they may even want into fashions....college's, if the world lasts that long....is the ans....yet....colleges, just pass our kids thru...they're not garenteed a good future, certif. or not
