Since gas prices are between $2.60 and $3.50 a gallon depending on what part of the country you live. I wonder if we will ever see the gas prices below the $2.00 range?

Unfortunately, no.
The United States has lived in a sort of bubble when it comes to gas prices. We've subsidized our prices for so long, and are unable to do so anymore, that our prices are now coming into line with the rest of the world which have been over 3.00 a gallon for a long time.
The only way would be if demand for gasoline goes down due to the widespread use of hybrid/alternative fueled vehicles.

No. Never.
Fuel consumption is higher now on a global scale and the oil megaconglomos have the taste of blood on their tongues. since they know society can stand to pay $3.00+ a gallon, they'll make sure it rarely ever goes under that, and will eentually push it up to even more.

You don't really think oil companies are going to give us a break do you? Even if crude went down, I doubt the gasolene price will drop very far. Oil companies did what they set out to do, which was to drive the costs up and soak the little guy!

not if we all keep feeding those big companies that are in controle of the prices. Also not until we have a better alternitive to gas.

Hell No!!! I remember when gas was like $0.89/gallon...Those days are OVER as well as under $2.00.........we need gas and they know we will pay what we have to...because we all have to drive.

No but soon other fuels will replace petrol. Hydrogen and corn derived ethanol.
