The black widow acquired its name by this behavior. This is common among most spiders. Because of spiders simple lives, ( all they do is eat and make baby spiders) The males will do nothing when they reach maturity, other than wander, searching for a mate. Finding one is often the last thing it will ever do. Cannibalism and incest are commonplace also.

It's a myth that the female black widow normally
eats the male after mating. I know a biologist who
reared many black widows in captivity for a study he was doing. He said he had watched about 500
matings and never saw the female eat the male.
This is a rare phenomenon in any kind of spider,
though it apparently does normally occur in a very
few kinds.
There ae various reasons why this myth may have
got started. One is that a female that has already
mated may not be inclined to mate again. A male
who attempts to do so may be regarded as another source of food and be eaten. Also if something disturbs the pair or they are being kept
in crowded conditions where they can not get far
away from each other either sex may attack the
other. Since the female is usually the heavier she
is likely to be the one who wins the encounter.

But seriously, they get nourishment from the males' body and well as a food source for the babies to hatch from the mating.

It's faster than a divorce !
They use the male for food so the babies can develope. But if possible the male will try to get away.
He like all males wants a second go at it.

They need the carbs and protein. I wouldn't worry about it though. It's just one of nature's little nasty wonders.
