I have severe anxiety disorder and suffer from panic attacks, I occasionaly have days that I feel like I'm a totally different person.
I've been suffering with this for six years, I finally went to a doctor and they gave me a medication called xanax and it works great, I feel normal again, don't be afraid of addiction, because if it really is anxiety that you are suffering from it wont make you feel high like it would a person who doesn't need it. You could also give your meds to one of your parents and they can give it to you when you need it. Good luck, I hope you get better and please talk to someone about what you are going through or it may not go away.

Try a multi-B vitamin. B-6 is very good for calming your nerves. They aren't very expensive. Try some meditation too. Just sit quietly for as long as you can and breathe slowly. Go easy on the caffiene too.
I agree with you about staying off the drugs! I lost a friend to anxiety meds- she lost her ability to think at all and it was a shame because she was brilliant.

Maybe your friend was predisposed to addiction.
The average time for onset of panic disorder is 19. You need to see a good counselor who will
talk with you a couple of times and suggest a therapy to help you deal with this horrific condition.
There are free counselors in every city through the United Way
Please try it.
God Bless

Panic and anxiety is energy stored in the body. If you do not release it, it just builds up and overloads everything.
The BEST way to release it, is thru exercise. But The Step, they sell them in Walmart and Target. Simply step up and down when you wake up, 5-15 minutes, and again before you go to bed, 5-15 minutes. This releases the tension.

just because one person had a bad experience with medication doesn't mean you will. some people just have addictive personalities. if i were you i would seek the help of a physician or good psychotherapist and be open to the options they give you. perhaps some relaxation techniques would be helpful, medication could still be looked at as a last resort but try not to jump to conclusions. medication has helped many, many people to be more comfortable in their own skin and they are better people because of it.
