The large corporations seem to have a bigger say then the people. As an example on the issue of increased fuel prices, the corporations like Exxon pays their executives millions of dollars and earn unprecedented profits and tey they say that the oil prices increase are justified.A child can see that when you can make profits you cannot justify oil price increases for the electrotte, the very people who put you there.Similiary with the Military Industrial Complex-Halliburton, the Pharmaceutical industry all are entities making money and enormous monies at that with very little being put into the economy for the very people who supposidly voted them. This in my mind is very strange!

In theory no, in practice yes. More and more the American Politic is being determined by Big Money and Political Pac Organizations, thus creating the same disproportionate representation that the founding fathers tried to argue against. As for displays of international compassion this country does generally make a respectable showing but often with a vested interest in mind!

That would be like asking if there is a diffrence between the Mexican people and the Mexican government. The answer of course would be yes. If it wasnt would we have illeagule imigrants today? As was said in congress the statue of Liberty has been turned arouned.

It's the difference between a representative republic and a true democracy. In a true democracy, every citizen would be required to vote on every issue facing the nation. In this country, we elect people we think best fit our idealism and send them to vote on these issues.

Pretty backwards, really, considering the advent of the internet.
