Why don't basketball players have to spit and baseball players do?

Baseball players have grass (or astro turf) and dirt to spit on, and basketball players don't, they wouldn't want to ruin their nice court floor. hehe, what do I know? NOthing apparently lol.

Could you imagine all the spit on the nice and shiny basketball court floors? I can just see Steve Nash pass to a crossing Boris Diaw before Diaw slips in a puddle of chaw spit and tears his ankle apart.

Also, basketball players don't normally chew on the bench while baseball players do. If you chew tobacco, you have to spit.

There are 2 main reasons:1) Many baseball players will "dip" or use chewing tobacco, which produces a liquid full of, well, crap that they need to get out of their mouth and 2) Baseball is played outside and is much less sick if they spit in grass or turf, s compared to a hardwood floor.
