As a heavy smoker, I have tried to quit. I keep starting back again. Yes, probably sooner than later I will stop by dying if I don't stop soon.

Read the section on smoking in "The Tipping Point" by Malcolm Gladwell. It is very informative and revealing. There are "Chippers" (occasional smokers) and then there are hard-core smokers. Smoking addiction is linked to a chemical deficiency and depression. I had no idea...but it made sense. It explains a lot. Chippers can put their cigarettes down any time they choose...but hard-core addiction needs treatment.

Sure sometimes, they do it on their own, sometimes they get help from friends, sometimes they use patches, and sometimes God just decides times up and they quit everything. But sooner or later everyone does quit smoking.

Sometimes they die smoking but a lot quit when they hear they are dying, I made a promise to my little girl to quit on her 7th b-day and she's fixing to turn 5. Seriously though I will quit I am going into real estate and will NOT want to smell like a cigarette!!! :)

If half of all smokers die, does that mean the other half are immortal?(kidding)But seriously,if you stop eating & drinking what you like, just eating the gunge recommended by doctors etc, what you are really aiming for is existence, not enjoying life. It's far better to have a relatively short, enjoyable life, than a long ,boring existence.

I quit 6 years ago. Food tastes better, I have more all in my body than ever before. It took my praying to God for support in quitting. I was serious about this and it worked out for the better for me. I am still walking around alive Thank Goodness.

Hope it will not be when the heart is blackened with no soap to wash. Quitting early is safer than when the damages done. And why not close down your factory and come help Africa -where they are now running to?

Yep...As Redd Fox said Those people who don't do anything are going to feel like a darned fool in the hospital dying of nothing. We all gottta go one day and our bad habbits with us.

Yep, you stop smoking, drinking, sex, drugs, rock and roll when you die...

Obviously you'll stop probably a bit earlier if you're doing all of the above...
