First of all, you need to determine what the cause is. It may just be that she is swallowing air, but there *could* be something more serious, in which case you need to fix the problem, not the symptom.

There are several things that can cause gassiness. The most common is just swallowing air. In this case, frequent burping may be all that is necessary. Some babies need to be burped *several* times during each feeding. Holding baby *very* close to the breast while nursing can sometimes prevent her from swallowing the air in the first place.

Thrush (a yeast infection of the baby's mouth) can cause gas. The individual yeast cells are swallowed, die, and produce the gas. If this is the problem, both mother and baby need to be treated *at the same time* or they will keep passing the yeast back and forth during breastfeeding (and possibly through other means, as well).

A dairy allergy often causes gas. Eliminating *all* dairy from the mother's diet for at least 2 weeks will usually let you know if this is the problem. (If the baby is getting only formula, it's harder because about half of all babies who are allergic to dairy are also allergic to soy...)

My baby had same prob; every 1 suggested it was the formula tried 6 brands; nothing. Then we switched the bottles; tada!!! If you use the gerber bottles with the liners instead of plastic bottles you'll find immediate results. Just make sure you push the bag up from underneath to squeeze out the excess air in the nipple; the milk will start to squirt out a little than your good to go. It worked wonders for our gassy boy! No medication was necessary.

there are many different types of gas drops for infants. i as a new mommy 3 years ago tried everything at many stores, i found that the best one that worked for my child was brand name little tummys gas drops walmart or target carries this.. otherwise to get you threw the night holding the infant with its belly laying across your arm and the head towards your elbow, and pat and rub her back.. if your baby is like mine your baby will fall asleep.. another thing you could do is after feeding time is done try to sit her up the best you can to help get air bubbles out. i used a boppy pillow wich worked great. best of luck

Yes, there is a special medicine you can get that eases gas symptoms. Check out your local WalMart or grocer, they will have it. It's in the same place you get the infant Tylenol, etc. It starts with an "M". I just can't remember the name right off...

Also, be sure to stay away from banana baby food. That actually increases gas.

I have a three a million/2 month previous toddler and he's a preemie too, @ about a three weeks his father and that i spotted that he wasn't taking his formulation nicely and can want to spit up, very well-known. He became clinically determined with pyloric stenosis and somewhat after a million a million/2 month he needed surgical treatment. make effective you're taking your toddler to the well being care service and request an quite sound that is the truly thanks to be certain because a well being care service would purely attempt to regulate the formulation and it really is something severe which may reason lack of life. sturdy luck and that i particularly pray your little angel is okay. through the way my son is doing okay after the surgical treatment he all started gaining weight speedy.

I had the same problem with my daughter. Try burping a little longer than usual. Try not to let him/her eat fast. Or get those bottles that decrease air in the milk. If you breast feed there really isnt anything you can do. My daughter ped. Said that the swallow air when ever she cries, or basically anything! If she doesnt act as tho it is bothering her then I wouldnt worry about it. If it does bother her, I would talk to your ped.

you can put a small piece of pepperment in a warm bottle and let it disolve, the pepperment will help sooth the baby's belly, also you can try some gas relief drops for infants.

You might want to switch her formula. If it's breast milk, try soy formula. But call your pediatrician before taking advice from anyone on here. Good Luck!
