I think Whirlybirds was a late 1950's show probably 1957. Ripcord was later in 1963.

I remember WHIRLYBIRD. I was born in 1953 so I was a kid when I saw. I remember one episode where a gorilla escaped from someplace and was in a hay mow in somebody's barn. The WHIRLYBIRD came and captured it. Of course, it was a man in a gorilla suit, but I thought it was real. I would not go into our barn for weeks after that because I thought I heard a gorilla in our hay mow. I don't really remember RIPCORD or THE BUCCANEERS. It was way before cable TV. As a matter of fact, we put aluminum foil on our rabbit ears to make the reception clearer. We only got 3 channels, sometimes 4 on a good day. And it was all in black and white. I never saw a color TV until I was about 16 years old, and I thought it was almost magic!!
