The reasons for poverty are many and profound. There are no easy answers. It is true that illegal drugs are part of the problem. But, then, so is drug prohibition. Mental illness is probably the biggest reason for poverty. Ex-convicts and military veterans comprise a large part of the homeless population. Single mothers and their children are also part of the equation.
Now, the biggest question is are these people poor because they are drug addicts; or, did they become drug addicts because they have totally lost hope and belief in our so-called civilized society? Who really knows? Or, are mentally ill people self-treating their illnesses with drugs?
I think that poverty is a problem that is going to take some really smart and thoughtful people to solve. One thng is sure, poverty is a problem that we, as a civilized nation, cannot afford to keep sweeping under the rug and pretending it does not exist.
it is freightening to see block after block of cardboard boxes that homeless people call home; and, wonder if any of the people living there are sane. The government gives them bone-destroying methodone because heroin is illegal and immoral, when heroin is safer. They need heroin to get to sleep and cocaine to wake up; and, if they're caught with either, they go to jail, driving them further into the poverty pit.
It has been estimated that most Americans are only one paycheck away from poverty. Lose your job and your apartment at the same time and you become homeless too. The longer you are homeless, the harder it is to get a job. No phone, no clean clothes, no way to wash or shave. The pit gets deeper and deeper. Pretty soon, you swallow your pride and start begging for change. Only to have some thoughtless person tell you to "Get a Job!" You're so depressed that you start drinking or taking drugs; and, your depression becomes unbearable. You no longer care how you look and become part of the faceless homeless flock that all look the same.

This is a very complex issue with as many causes as solutions. I feel that the first we can look at the groups of people who are suffering from poverty. They can be divided into two main groups: the first group consists of people who have been above the poverty level and for whatever reason are no longer able to make it and those who are trying (really trying) to escape to a productive self-supporting level. The second group is one that has become so entrenched in surviving on hand-outs and the helping hands that they no longer try to move out of the area of poverty. How does one keep the people that are able to improve themselves inspired to not just take the hand outs?
It is so many things that contribute to the poverty. I do believe that in so many instances the country is not helping these people escape poverty. In fact at times it has done nothing but foster poverty with no escape.
We need to attack poverty with the same resources and strategies as we have used to fight wars.

its practicaly inconceivable with the fertile land to be had in India and the populace thatmust be supported and the course politics in india is relocating. There are approaches india might get rid of poverty however india truthfully performing is not likely: a million. As i am certain we're all conscious meat calls for bigger assets then plants, the plants given to an animal to fatten it up is the basis vigor after which the animal makes use of such a lot of that vigor in existence approaches, on traditional a million/10 of the basis vigor is handed directly to the client, so with each component to meat is equivalant to ten portins of plants when put next in vigor. India's meat intake is growing so it isn't a most likely step. two. This is essentially the most promising soloution- exchange. india is bringing in uncooked fabric and processing it into items that it exports, with the cash constituted of this and different provider industries india might be ablr to shop for its meals in a identical mannequin to that of Japan. three. Divert spending from Militray methods and positioned it make investments it into reliable farming practices and setting up exchange with fertile international locations. I'm a skeptic that india will in my lifetime resolve this concern because of corruption, loss of accountability in the direction of the enviorment and usually the brand new (to india) puppy consume puppy kind of commercial. And folks marvel why their is such a lot help for communism in India.

The main thing with poverty is lack of love. Lack of love cause us to disregard our fellow man. Some are very forawrd in this and clearly rob others, or cheat others, out of living a full life to satisfy themselves. Many of us, though, are just not aware of the true reality and span of poverty around the world. A lot of this lack of love comes from selfishness, either directly or as a trickle down effect. Selfishness comes from fear of failure to survive (the mindset that someone must lose so another can win). Fear of failure to survive comes from...lack of love around us.

The main thing going on in poverty is illegal drugs. People who are addicted to them, cannot escape from the grip of them, cannot get a job because of them, and cause most of the crime in our society today because of them.

This seems to be an easy answer...REPUBLICANS do not care about our citizens living in poverty and could care less about the needy...we would rather be in Iraq sacrificing the lives of our loved ones...somehow this seems twisted.
