The egg if you are willing to consider the theory of evolution. The chicken developed from an embryo that came from an egg laid by one of the ancestors of the chicken, albeit a very similar ancestor. The ancestor simply passed along most of the favorable genes, which eventually created the chicken that we have today.

I agree that it was the chicken. God created Adam and Eve as adults, not children. So it is likely that the animals were created the same way (otherwise who would have sat on the egg to keep it warm enough to hatch?). Also - animals were created before Adam and Eve I believe.

The chicken because when God created the animals, he created the chicken not the egg :)

It had to be the chicken. Who would have kept the egg warm and taken care of the baby chick when it hatched?

Hhmmmm...according to creationism, the chicken did. According to evolution the one celled organism did..which could be considered an egg. Me? I think it was the central building block of all life...the carbon atom. Either way, take your pick. I'm good with it.
