Do you think it's because of the war or a bunch of greedy gas companies finding out that we will have to pay the price for now no matter what. The price on a barrel of oil has went down yet we still pay the same. Now they say the hurrican season will determine prices. Sounds like they are useing every excuse to keep prices high.

I think that's basically true... the supply and demand numbers don't correlate to the percentage that prices have increased... every time someone sneezes in the middle east, gas prices go up by 15 cents....

every day there are more drivers than the day before... that doesn't account for 50 percent increases in a two-month span, like we had near the beginning of the year... it's not like the entire country of China started using gas on new year's day...

Being a military spouse this seems to be a heated debate in my circle! :) I am willing however to hedge a bet that the war has a lot less to do with the gas prices than anyone really thinks.
Though oil prices have gone down you have to consider that they may blame things on hurricanes or wars etc. But put fear in the heart of America and they will go through hoops in their hour of desperation.

I think this is yet another way for the people to help balance the budget, where in Washington they made the mistakes. So as tax payers we are footing the bill here with higher gas prices every year. Like their new medicare health reform plan with Rx's. Some are paying more for their Rx's than before they signed up, I was told.

the reason gas prices are so high is because of the cost of oil per barrel the big oil makes their money when oil prices go down because if you notice it taks a while fo us to see the lower prices big oil is making like seven cents on the gallon for gas most of it goes to taxes for state and local governments and they are or were talking about taking more from big oil becaue of their profits which will end up hurting us even more I am not for big oil but the facts don't lie

The gas prices are so high because the gas companies know that people will pay the price.

It's because of Iraq. The constant sabotage has decreased world oil supplies by that amount, explaining the crunch. You could have predicted that in advance. If the US makes one more such move, like attacking Iran, I'm afraid the entire economic house will fall. Don't do one more thing.

I think it is because of the coming of the one world government. They have to get all us countries in line and paying about the same for gas.

the real reason is.... supply and demand. if they were all in a conspiracy then, why wouldn't one of them, just one of them lower their prices a little more and look like the good guys , they'd still make a great profit, why? because its all supply and demand. go visit europe sometime and you'll be glad for 3 dollar a gallon gas.
