A really big holiday is coming up, and we all probably know someone who will celebrate it by drinking alcohol, and then try to drive while 'intoxicated". Can you say anything to discourage this type behaviour?

Set Hard Rules and make them Agree to them. Either pick them up or make them hand over the keys the minute they arrive. If and when they want to leave - take them home. If you think they might turn around and leave again, tell them you will return their keys the following day. Their options are to agree to the rules or not be invited to the party. If they show up uninvited, ask them to leave. Someone I love or care about might be out on the road that night too! Better yet - it is possible to celebrate an occasion without alcohol!!

NO, take the damn keys hide them (don't let them see you took the keys) watch them walk around like idiots trying to find them wait until the are sober or pass out witch ever comes first, and laugh your a$$ off in the mean time. SO you do two things at once have a good time and you might of ended up saving their life.

The ol slogan says, "friends don't let friends drive drunk". If saying something doesn't help, snitch their keys and then deny you have them. Eventually they will give up and you can give the keys back later. What should you say? Be straight about it. Designate a driver, tell them that you care about them too much to let them drive drunk. Team up on them, the more people on the one drunk driver the better. Make them give up so they can go on drinking. Get the keys for that too. Care about your friends enough and you can save alot of lives.

You can try, but it often has little effect. People need to have designated drivers when they are going out drinking with others...or stay overnight where they are (house parties) or call a cab or sober friend for a ride home...

You could always try hiding their keys if you know they are too drunk to drive...as mad as they may get, at least they'll be alive to be mad...

Take their keys. If that doesn't work, I'm sorry but call the police. Think about it, if it was your little brother or sister, child, parent, whatever, that was killed by some idiot drunk behind the wheel, wouldn't you want them charged with murder? You know that when you drink, if you drive you could potentially kill someone. Would you want to be an accessory to that?

It's easy to say that you won't drink and drive during a holiday but it takes restraint and a clear head to do it . So, the best way to not drink and dive is to not drink at all.

I tried the "give me your keys" bit, but he had a spare set under his car. Then he tried to run me over. I called the police. From now on, I'm only calling the police.
