It is usually best to avoid coloring your hair during the first trimester, but I think that is more for the smell of the chemicals than anything else. Highlighting is usually the safest method because it is only painted on your hair and not applied directly to your scalp where the chemicals might have a chance of entering your bloodstream.

Though the pregnant belly is the most obvious physical effect a gestating fetus has on it's mother, it's by no means the only one. The changes are evident everywhere - from the palms of the hands (which may temporarily turn a ruddy red) to the inside of the mouth (gums may swell and bleed). The hair is no exception.
Though some extra-prudent practitioners still advise their patients to stay away from hair dyes when they're expecting, studies have not lnked these products to birth defects. Apparently, so little of the chemicals in the dyes is absorbed through the skin, it's not likely that it would leave any adverse effect.
But, while you may not have to worry about the impact on your baby if you continue colouring your hair, you may have to worry about the impact on your appearance. For hormonal reasons, your hair may react differently when you're expecting - leaving you with a colour you may not have expected.

You can dye your hair during pregnancy. The only concern are the fumes. Make sure you're in a well ventalated area. Also, the color may not come out the way it used to or the way it should. Pregnancy also affects the condition of your hair. Just keep that in mind also.

OK It depends. The myth is that you shouldn't dye your hair. Call it superstition or whatever but I didn't dye my hair while I was pregnant for my daughter. I am pregnant now and read a ton of books. It has not been medically proven that the dye affects the fetus. Medically there is no relation between the chemicals in the dye and any birth defects. I am pregnant now sixth months into it and when I was five months I dyed my hair. I felt guilty but hey its a war between superstition and science. Pick.

As a rule you should never bleach or dye your hair during the first trimester. After that talk to your doctor. It is best, however to avoid any chemical processes if possible since inhaling ammonia is not a good thing when pregnant.

I wouldn't dye it at all. Why add an unnecessary issue to your pregnancy? 9 months of not dyeing won't hurt you but what if it hurt your baby?
You might as well just wait and feel good about yourself for doing everything you can to give your baby his/her best start in life.

I did after the first trimester. I made sure i was in an open area where i could breathe fresh air. If u're doing it at home i would try to do it outside or at least open a window or two. CONGRATS!!
