My husband makes balloon animals as a side job but not really making any money. How can I get him to stop? It is taking away time from our family. It drives me insane! We have 2 kids and twins on the way.

Just to let you know, that is not our source of income. It's a side job.

He does it for church related activities, b-day parties, he's doing a fair later next week, and fundraisers, etc.

No, our family will not become part of the act..no thank you!

It could be worse.
What if he was a mime?

If he is not making money at it just consider it a safe and inexpensive hobby.
Some guys fish, hunt or boat to relax, He blows up balloons.

Perhaps you could help collect money?

If you have two kids and two on the way I'm sure extra money cncome in handy. Maybe he is looking to build up business by word of mouth. If he really enjoys what he does what is the harm. I can't imagine that these events take all day. I paint faces as a side business and I often take my kids to help me organize the line and get things for me. These events do not consume my weekend at this point and you'd be suprised how much money he could make as a balloon artist. Some make from $50.00 to $75.00 an hour. It is definitely not chicken feed. If he is truly spending too much time away then have him cut back to maybe twoif you take the kids to some of these event so they can watch their father. I'm sure they will be as entertained as other kids. Just seeing him bring smiles to kids faces is good for yor kids. The more you get involved the less resentment you will feel. But schedule quality family time each week too.

He also may be escaping. Maybe he is not ready for four kids- that is a lot of work. You need to sit down and ask why he does the balloon art and se tup a schedule. I know a baloon artist who refuses to work on sundays because that is "family day" and he does something with his family every Sunday. People have asked him to perform on Sundays but he sticks to his rule.

Is he really doing it for the money or does he just like doing it for the creativity or to interact with people?
Can you be candid with him and just say "I really want you to spend more time with me and the kids, forget trying to make more money."
I'm interested in how and where he does this. Is it for birthday parties or carnivals? Does he make a performance out of it, like a magic show? If so, he may be reluctant to give it up because he likes the attention and the applause.
Would there be another way he could get that attention, but with the family? Could the family become part of his act? Then he could continue it and still spend time with the kids.

i like that one girl saying to put pins in the ballon container. i don't know if she was meaning to put the push pins in them when they are deflated. so when he blows them up, the air just runs right out of it. if thats not what she was saying, thats what i would do. hehe. all i can say, is if you do do that, have fun. i know would. and if he wanted to know if you knew anything about it, just say you had left it out side and a sworm of bummble bees got a hold of them.

tell him to stop doing that, but he could do that for your children, so that the children will enjoy it, and your husband will still do what he likes to do.
