Why does the rest of the world not play American football?

football is awsome how come they don't play it?

TeamUSA plays all over the world.

I coach American football here in Germany and I know it's played in Italy, Spain, Austria, and France for sure...maybe even other countries...

It's not as popular as it is in America for a number of reasons:

Work Ethic is number one...American football takes practice and dedication...daily....Europeans aren't into that at all...they want a sport they can do quick and easy without a lot of fuss.

Aggression and guts are number two: no one in the world has the kind of aggression and intestinal fortitude that can match an American.

Money: American football, like other sports in America, started cheaply and without a lot of pay to the players...thats preposterous in Europe - where graf and payola and bet hedging are practically commonplace. It's all about money over here.

Lastly it's all about physical education and sports programs in school. In Europe, Phys Ed in school is organized grab ***, soccer, dodge ball, and badminton if you have a really advanced program....the legal age to play contact football in Europe starts at 16!!!

Who ever said that the rest of the world doesn't play American Football? Their is several leagues throughtout the world that play American Football. For example, the CFL in Canada, NFL Europe - professional league in Europe, playing for the World Bowl (XIV in 2006)
European Federation of American Football European organization who runs the Eurobowl (XX in 2006)
German Football League
British Collegiate American Football League (BCAFL)
British American Football League (BAFL)
Irish American-football league
American Football New Zealand
Gridiron Australia
Mexican College Football League or ONEFA
Israeli Football League (IFL)

The only reason that we don't hear about it is because obviously Soccer is the sport that rules the rest of the world.

Because American Football is exciting and soccer is boring.. My question for soccer fans is. Why is the most exciting thing about soccer is the fans beating the crap out of each other. You never see this in American Football. This past Superbowl the Steeler and Seahawk fans did not like each other, but there were no riots in the stands like at soccer games...

Well i guess its becouse the rest of the world is not interested in american football, the rest of the world is interested in another sport,called football, or as americans call it soccer.
Its a shame the us got eliminated from the World Cup.

cos what you call football isn't.you play a poor mans version of what the rest of the world regards as rugby.the reason nobody plays so called American football is cos everybody else already plays the best football in the world---heard of the world cup! don't recall America playing let alone world class football.

If we use soccer (or "football") as evidence, I'd say that it is because the rest of the world is filled with athletes that fall to the ground in a big crying heap, and have to be carried to the field on stretcher whenever they get kicked in the shin.

One solid hit from Ray Lewis or Brian Urlacher, and your average long-haired prancing soccer player named Alberto would crumple like tin foil.

The rest of world does not have the brain power to get beyond running up and down a field scoring only one to two points for entire game. No plays no excitement just boredom.

Because it is one of the most expensive sports to play. Europe has the NFL developmental league to try to get European support for the american game.

Ummm maybe because it's too violent of a sport for international competition...Think about it...would it really be a good idea for like Iran to play the USA ?...that'd be bad.
