When I went to school there were groups of jerks.
The jerks who played sports and who thought they would make it big--now couch potatoes.
The jerks who thought they were smart--now working at fast food joints.
The jerks who smoked dope--now dead, depressed, or an artists.
The jerks who thought they were beautiful--now with more credit card bills than teeth.
The jerks who had lots of fun with the jerks of the opposite sex--now married with children living a conservative life.
The jerks who didn't say much to anyone--now computer geeks with six-figure salaries.

Not really. I went to a somewhat large hs where, although there were popular people, there wasn't a most popular person or clique. Also, a lot of somewhat popular people were the really intelligent ones ("nerd" puts to mind someone somewhat antisocial, but now those are the stoners). I was a fringe member of a fringe group due to my antisocial behavior and conflicting opinions with the rest of my class. I did, however, command a certain amount of respect due to my intelligence and high self-esteem. Stereotypes are often based on fact, but almost never apply to a single person or group. And no one likes cheerleaders, not even other cheerleaders.

Its probably true for larger schools though the portrayal in the movies is stereotypical the groups are there. The school I went to was too small to have that many groups. LOL

In a perfect world, everyone would be equal and get along with one another. But let's face facts, high school it full of cliques and most are trying to find out which clique they belong to. There are a select few that bounce from clique to clique and get along with the majority of the school (but those kids are scarce). High school even has mini cliques within the cliques....as matter of fact, let's stop thinking about it before we all get migraines!

it depends, in my school! there are popular kids that are jocks, cheerleaders are losers and they are dumb, everyone hates them, "most popular girl", probably is jess randel but not really sure, no one really cares, and the nerd, no one. i went to lower merion high school for my freshman year but i'm moving this year and i'm gonna be a sophmore. that high school has no labeling of people, everyone is cool and most of them are nice. i loved it there! i wish that i can stay there 'till i graduate from high school! good times!

High school is the breeding ground of sterotypes and cliques and all sorts of discrimiate things.
They existed when I was in high school, but not to the effect that they do it in movies. You just sort of knew who was who and who they were assosciated with.
"Teen movies" are very formulated. Same plot lines, same typecasted types of characters. It's a fill in the numbers script that they ship out to the theaters every year.

My high school didnt have stereotypes at all! We knew we were in a little "bubble" because everyone got along pretty well and were all nice and friends.

It's true. But the most annoying movie type is the rich jerky kid!! Never knew one at my school, but maybe I just avoided him.
