Where in the boot up does the password appear? If it is before the Windows screen, it is a "power on password." There is normally a switch on the motherboard of the computer that controls that password. Open the case and look on the inside. Often there will be a diagram of the system board showing what switch to throw, or what jumper to move to clear the password. (Be sure the computer is off when you do this.)
If the password is after the Windows logo, but before you get to the desktop, then it is a Windows password. If you do not know - and can not get - the password, you will have to format the hard drive and reinstall Windows. I would recommend doing this anyways. If the computer still has Windows on it, who knows what all viruses, spyware, and other garbage is on the drive. You will want to clear everything and start over before using it.

first is the password on the bios section of the system?
if it is then you need to simply open the case and find the jumper (two pins) inside on the motherboard tht need to be reset (comnnected to gether for a few seconds to clear the bios and reset to the default settings. if you can not find this jumper then removing the battery (the button cell on the board) for a few seconds will do the same job.
if the password is part of the operating system then i have to agree you may have been ripped off. The PC may have been reported as stolen property check with your local police department. if the pc turns out to be stolen you may lose the pc and the money you paid for it. most systems if they are sold legit are going to heve the passwrd removed prior to sale.
If the system is not stolen and you are lucky you will have to re-install the operating system from scratch.
to do this you will need the CD for the operating system and set the bios to boot from CD.
if you dont have the cd then your going to need to buy an operating system or if the pc is relatively a new one you may be able to get a free trial for VISTA or one of the other windows operating systems contact www.microsoft.com
if your system is running windows and if the system was bought from a store or built by an OEM you will have a microsft sticker on the side or somewhere on the PC showing a PRODUCT KEY. if you have this product key but no operating system disk you can try borrowing a friends OS CD and inputting your product key when asked during the install process.
again if in doubt contact microsoft.com and email there technical support department.
good luck

You will have to perform a system restore from the hard drive. When you start the computer you'll have to pay close attention because at the bottom of the screen at a specific time during the start up it will say "Press F11 for system restore". You only have 3 seconds to press the F11 key. Once you press F11 follow the steps for a system restore from the hard drive. Read every screen for information. Once the restore is complete you can set your own passwords.

fdisk or formatted hard drive if its a windows password. If its a BIOS password you need to get into CMOS and change or delete
the previous password. To get into the CMOS , hit delete key, hit F2 key, hit F10 or watch your P.O.S.T screen on boot and be ready too hit the pause key, cause the post is usually very quick. i hope this helps, if your a young person have your parents do this.

Have you went back to the church that sold it to you and asked if they know the password? If they don't know, and they can't direct you to someone who does, the only thing you can do is to reinstall windows. Hopefully this helps!

The easiest way is to scrounge up $60 and go to your local Best Buy retailer. There is a Geek Squad technician tehre who can remove it. You will probably lose all of the info on teh computer, but hey, it will work.
