Best way: Join your local magic club. Many clubs are associated with the Society of American Magicians (http://www,samamagic.org) or the International Brotherhood of Magicians- so their websites can often point you right. You can also google 'magic society [your city]'.

Another good way: Hang at the local magic shop. Sure, they want to sell stuff, but they also know that by teaching you stuff, you'll keep coming back!

Another way: Find some good 'learn about magic' DVDs. The sites below are good sources for videos.

You can learn from books and websites, but personally, I always get more from watching it be done.

By the way, I also suggest:
- learn a few basic sleights, like a good fake card cut, a card force, a couple good coin vanishes, etc. Don't try to learn EVERY way to do everything. Being able to do a couple sleights well is better than being able to barely do a bunch of stuff.
- learn a few good magic tricks to start with and build slowly. It is REALLY easy for a beginner to build a big pile of mediocre stuff and not really have anything good. When you watch the good magicians, they rarely do more than a few tricks at a time.
- go ahead and read or watch about as much magic as you can stomach. Read about a hundred tricks- that makes it easier for you to find the 5 or 6 you want to master!
- practice! You've heard and read this before, but it is true. Pactice in front of mirrors, with tolerant freinds, etc. Carry a couple coins and cards with you to practice things during commericals, etc.

Good luck!
