READ! By all means, READ! Aside from the physical effects of watching TV (see http://www.cognitiveliberty.org/5jcl/5JCL59.htm ) it is not better than a book. When was the last time you ever heard someone say, "Oh gee, the movie was so much better than the book"? My guess is never, because lame books aren't wrthy of being made into movies. When they find a good book, they cut out half of it to make it short enough to fit a movie script. Everybody loses. The book is ALWAYS better than the movie, and certainly better than TV. When you watch TV you just zone as far as brain activity level. I watch TV right before bed. It knocks me out every time. A good book can keep me up all night. I've never seen a TV show so engrossing that I couldn't turn it off and go to sleep.

You should probably read a book. There isn't too much worth the electricity to run the T.V. The computer is my problem. I used to read at least 2 books a week. I haven't since I discovered Yahoo.
I just can't stay away.

While I enjoy doing both at different times, I find that books can be far more beneficial in the long run. Yes these days you can learn alot from television but I find that books are more informative and detailed. Books also allow you to "exercise" your brain. The more fine tuned it is, the more useful it can be to you throughout your life. Good luck!

both, but very selectively. reading is not always good, (depends on what you read) and television is not always bad. have ever noticed that the intelligent networks are the most popular? like the discovery channel, home and garden, etc. same with books, so people are not stupid. it takes some judgment of course, but based on your intelligent question, i say you will do fine.

reading expands your vocabulary - but you could do both. Watch TV and read during the commercials. - Really though I would prefer to read.

Watch movies. It doesn't take as long and you have time to do other things. Besides, you can watch a movie with a boyfriend or girlfriend but you can't as easily read with them! ;-)
