For me, this is just better than nothing. Larry Brown is conservative and not a good coach. However, I don't see Isiah Thomas is a better option. Anyway this is not a problem.
The root of bad performance is the poor players. If I am the director of Knicks, I will make some other moves as followed:
1. Trade out Marbury for another star player. (Every Knicks fans want to see this and this is only hope)
2. Focus on J.Crawford as the centre of the teams.
3. Find some good PF, SF or C in the free market. (Garnett is impossible, find someone close)

As a lifetime Knicks fan I can't blame them for getting rid of Brown considering the year he had. But I think it was a bad idea because Larry Brown has gone through worse seasons as a head coach on his first appearance for a team( 1988 San Antonio: 21 wins & 61 losses) and has come back the next year and had a good season(1989 S.A.: 56 wins & 26 losses). I'm just saying that they should have given him another chance, especially since Isiah Thomas lacks experience as a NBA head coach.

You can't blame Brown for all of the Knicks' problems. Look at who assembled the team - it was Thomas (as general manager) who was in charge of personnel, not Brown. Brown had a team without any post players and also lacked a competent team leader/floor general. Granted, Stephon Marbury is a good player, but his ability to lead a team is questionable...Steve Francis is a good scorer, but he's not the pg the Knicks needed either. Marbury + Francis + Rose + Crawford = 4 ballhogs..yet there's only 1 ball to go around. It's nice to see that James Dolan realizes the franchise desperately needs help...whether firing Larry Brown was the right decision or not remains to be seen, but at least the Knicks are actively making an effort to improve (something that should offer their fans the slightest sliver of hope).

Um, I honestly have to say not at all. I am not a strong Knicks fan, but they are in my top 3 favorite teams. I believe this is going to be a costly mistake. Larry Brown is a hall of fame coach and and just had a bad year, however, look at Isaiah's career once he ended his playing career. He went to the CBA and messed them up real bad, then he proceeded to coach for Indiana where, though he did take them to the playoffs, he could never finish. He is not a good coach, he was a great player but should never have gone onto a career in the NBA outside of playing. This WILL be his downfall.

Personally, Larry Brown should have stepped down after winnning the championship in Detroit. The firing made a lot of sense but it does not begin to solve the problems of the roster. The roster is a mess and the salary cap has destroyed this team.

Glad to see Larry leave. Can't motivate a team if you don't want to be there. But the plane ticket should have went to Isiah Thomas.

I think this is a stupid move. Isiah Thomas himself is the problem. He is the one who has a problem with the idea of winning.
Having him as coach will only make things worse. Prepare for a LONG season!
