Usually what will happen is that your computer will start to use hard disk space as RAM (a process known as "swapping") and your game will run very slowly. RAM is fairly inexpensive, you should be able to upgrade to a full gigabyte for around $100, so that would be my recommendation. You might be able to get away with 384 megs if you shut down all programs like IM clients, web browsers, etc, but it will be very tight.

most likely your PC will run extremely slowly. if you know how until you upgrade your ram i'd try and reset your systems Page File to a couple of thosand MB (2GB or more) this will help your system run a little better but not much.
If your PC supports it UPGRADE your RAM to a minimum of 2GB if you plan to run games or if you plan to use your PC for multimedia use, I. E. If you want to say add a tv tuner that supports pause recording of live TV.
you are also best advised to upgrade your hard drive to a high RPM high storage capacity SATA rathe than an IDE/ ATA drive.
SATA drives transfer data a little quicker than ATA drives.
and if you don't already have a decenct CPU you should consider upgrading, as well as pottentially upgrading your Graphics card.

I hope this helps a little, and good luck

Some games will crash, others will play slowly, still others may work fine. I've been playing games under requirements for quite a while now.
